Desired Ability: Legilimency
How did your character acquire this ability?: While in school, Viveca found herself initially interested in studying Divination. However, she unfortunately learned that clairvoyance wasn't really a skill that one could hone without the natural ability. Frustrated, she sought out some sort of alternative and learned of legilimency. It wasn't quite the same, but it was likely the closest that she would get to the desired ability. Noting her general ambition and diligence, as well as her disappointment in clairvoyance, her Divination teacher offered to work with her outside of class to hone the ability. Not very proficient in the skill himself, Viveca worked hard to progress as far as she could. Even today, her ability leaves quite a bit to be desired, but she does manage to gain some insight from her targets. Mainly to discern glimpses of what they like or are interested in. Though, concrete secrets and minute details still tend to elude her grasp even today.

How did your character acquire this ability?: Viveca's tenacity to pursue legilimency won her the attention of Horace Slughorn, her then Head of House. She secured herself an invitation to to the Slug Club. Slughorn himself even helped her to gain some proficiency in Occlumency during his final year at Hogwarts. Viveca continued practicing and met with Professor Slughorn a few times after they had both left Hogwarts, to further hone her skills, impressing him that her abilities had even begun to rival his own.
