I think you're both just being stubborn asses about this.
Those were Callie's words just the other day when the pair met for lunch. Brayden didn't care if she was being stubborn or not. Grant had insulted her and she did not care to submit herself to his nastiness. While she might understand why he was feeling the way he was, that gave him no right to speak to her in such a way, or treat her like a piece of shit.
It had been months since that evening in his flat when she had gone to see him. Months since they had last spoken or saw one another. And Brayden found herself missing him more than she ever expected. But, she was not going to cave. She was not going to go see him and try to work things out. Hell, even with her father hounding her about him coming over so he could have dinner with her parents; no, she would not yield.
Her father was relentless, though.
He owled her often, wondering after Grant. Brayden explained the situation, or at least the superficial one, and her father seemed somewhat appeased by it, but he made sure to always tell her that he expected Grant to come by once his eyesight was restored. Fat chance, she always thought, but she obviously never said that to her father. He'd wonder why she did and then she'd have to explain. And the last thing she wanted was to tell the truth about her relationship with Grant.
Or the lack thereof.
She sighed in relief as she sat at her office desk. His treatments had been a success, she learned, and that her research had yielded positive results. They may not have seen or spoken ort one another in months, but she had been closely monitoring his progress. She was happy to learn that his eyesight had been restored and that he'd be able to get back to his normal life, but then that also meant he'd be back to work and she would see him around the hospital.
Not if she avoided him.
That was her plan, not wanting to bother with him even now that his life would be getting back to normal. He had hurt her, deeply, and she was not going to just forgive that. Even in his state at the time, he was out of line and that she could not overlook. She had just put the papers pertaining to his case down on her desk when there was a knock on her closed office door. "Come in," she called. Who could it be, she wondered.
