Chandler had life pretty well now that he was more established in the UK. He was starting to make solid friends, he had his own little troupe of people that he could call family over here. Of course, he had actual family over here. He couldn’t forget how he had stayed on NAOMI RAINE and WILLIAM THATCHER couch when he first arrived, being woken up by Marley who didn’t understand the concept of sleeping in yet. One day the kid would get it, then he’d be really cool to Chandler.
He had eventually gotten his own place. Learned of a few other friends from the State’s who lived here now, reconnected with some of them like SYLVESTER WHITMORE and continued friendships with those he already was good buddies with like Clay and Jonah. He even had a girlfriend, an unlikely situation for Chandler honestly, who usually learned too late that the person he liked had liked him, but had never thought he liked them back so they had moved on. Or, he botched it up some other way. Things were going really well with Alex though, and he was in the Ministry today to take her to lunch. He always thought she worked too hard, so he could at least get her to sneak away and have some good food with him.
After he dropped Alex back off at his desk, he decided to visit Clay, or at least to pop in and see how he was. Ever since that send off event, Clay had seemed weird, never wanting to talk about Alex and/or hang out with both of them. He was not certain why, but he was trying to just still be his friend. They had nearly two decades of friendship between them! This was Chandler and Clay, Clandler… er… Chay… two of the three amigos! They had conquered New Orleans together, and they had successfully gotten Chandler’s new cat home to England together. They were the kind of forever friends.
He was walking down the hallway, not paying much attention when he clipped someone else walking really fast in the shoulder. Before he could even say sorry, he was stopped by seeing a look of daggers and - were those maybe tears? He watched the person walk really fast the opposite direction of the hallway and he decided to pause on his search for Clay to make sure he hadn’t caused such a reaction in the person.
He didn't have to follow their direction far before he found them rather, well, what looked like fumming in the hallway and he sort of waited until they noticed he was there. “Sorry, er, for running into you back there,” he said slowly, hesitation on his tongue. “Are you… are you okay?” he asked his brows furrowing in. He had not seen this look often with Alex, but he knew that it wasn’t a happy look if she were in this state. He’d only known one time that she seemed so riled by a coworker, but she didn’t really want to talk about what had happened. He had given her that space, not wanting to push, but something in him today told him to ask this stranger he was meeting for the first time.
Well, we shouldn’t say stranger per say. He had seen her in Clay’s office when he had come by. He had seen that she sat a few desks away, but had never actually met her. “I’m Chandler… by the way,” he added softly, because what did you even say to someone who was visibly upset? Chandler had zero training for this, we’re sorry now.
