Tell me how's it feel
sittin up there Feelin' so high
but too far away to hold me
sittin up there Feelin' so high
but too far away to hold me

[attr="class","nthlftsybdytxt1"]In Barry's opinion, Cheska had mastered the art of the poker face. She was like an emotional chameleon that only let you know how she felt when she wanted you to know. He had been doing his best trying to reassure her that his family would not treat Ivy as a promotional tool by pointing out that his sister Midori had taken a backseat from the spotlight to protect her son in the same way that Cheska was proposing. Cheska may have been convinced by his sister's motives, but wasn't sold that Midori would permanently abandon the spotlight.
It was just another token of familiarity. Cheska and Midori had never really seen eye-to-eye, but they found a way to coexist. Barry would have liked to think it was for his sake, but perhaps it was for his mother's as well. She had made quite the impression on both women. Though, Barry had no idea how big of one until Cheska revealed the full name of their daughter.
Barry couldn't describe the feelings he was experiencing, learning that his daughter had been named after his own mother. As he sat there, he stared at Cheska in awe. So many people would accuse Cheska of being calculating and selfish. He understood that's what people would think. Yet, in that moment, Barry was reminded of the woman that Cheska was. She didn't share who she really was with just anyone. That was reserved for the people that meant something to her.
Barry swallowed, even feeling his eyes beginning to well with tears. If lines had been drawn in the sand, Barry had a much clearer idea of where Cheska stood. He had asked if there was anything more, and she told him. She would give her parents a chance to be part of Ivy's life, but they would never be alone with her. They would never have the opportunity to spew their poison upon Ivy as they had Cheska.
"That will never happen," Barry said softly. He couldn't begin to know what Cheska had endured from her parents. Yet, he knew enough to know that together they would spare Ivy from ever being exposed to anything like it. He wasn't sure if it was conscious on his part, but Barry moved one of his hands to rest on top of Cheska's. His eyes stared upon his hand and then rose to meet hers. "I promise."
