"Take this and go over there after work. I'm sure Grant will appreciate the company as well as the research."

That is what Callie told her as she pressed a key into her palm. Brayden tried to protest, but her slightly younger friend wouldn't let her give it back. Callie merely smiled and started to walk away, mentioning that Brayden should bring something to feed her brother as well.

Brayden couldn’t help but feel required to see Grant, and not just because she needed to return the key Callie had given her. Ever since he got injured, he hasn’t been to work and Brayden hasn't seen or spoken to him all that much. She's passed along well wishes with his sister, but that was pretty much it. The last time they had seen one another was when he first got injured.

She hated thinking about that day. She just left Alina's room when Grant apparated into the corridor, screaming. His eyes were tightly shut, and she could see that he was in pain. She rushed to him, gripping his shoulders and asking him what happened. He could barely speak, so she took him into a room and sedated him to examine him.

That was two weeks ago, and Brayden found that she missed seeing Grant. After all, they were supposed to a couple, even though that was something they only spoke of whenever ti involved her parents. They didn't act like they were anything more than colleagues, and that was how she preferred it. The last thing she needed was to have the truth blurred by their lie.

Brayden finished up her work and made sure to grab her research for his blindness before leaving her office for the day. She stopped off at her favorite fish fry, the one she had taken Grant to months ago, and then headed over to his flat. She'd never been there before, but Callie made sure to tell her where it was. Brayden arrived and managed to balance everything perfectly as she used the key and opened the door.
[break][break]
She felt strange walking into his flat without knocking, but she had her hands full and the key so it was okay, right? "Grant? Are you here?" she called out as she walked into his living room and used her foot to close the door behind her. "I brought you dinner," she said as she placed everything down on the coffee table in his living room.
