Gabe had woken up as usual that morning, nothing particularly out of the ordinary, and he had slept soundly the night before. As much as the counselling sessions he had decided to start attending were helping in other aspects of his life, the nightmares and dreams had begun to seep into everyday life. He had really thought that Harry had been on to something when finally he had received a letter to the building he had found himself hovering outside over in recent weeks, but the whole experience had been rather absurd and not one he felt he could recall to anyone without sounding crazy.
Harry had looked at him as if she had been expecting something of him and Gabe had found it difficult to hide his own disappointment when they had left the large building yesterday. For some reason he had thought that the place would give him an answer, some reason for the visions he had been seeing, but nothing. Although a lack of visions and nightmares last night was perhaps something to be grateful for.
He had pulled himself out of bed and poured his usual morning coffee, however it was as Gabe raised the cup to his lips he froze, a sensation like fireworks going off inside his head caused him to falter and his eyes went wide as a reel of images played across his eyes; @albus sat opposite him in a café laughing, holding the man’s hand as Albus held in his other hand what appeared to be a stick.
Gabe held out his hands and it was like the bouquet of roses that Albus had conjured that day was now in his hands. he could remember the weight of them, he could remember that day but as soon as he could the images were reeling through other occasions. Harry the woman he had met a couple of months ago, sitting having drinks with him and Albus years ago. The memories continued to fall into place, pushing out everything he thought he knew. All he was convinced he had known about his life, crumbling to dust and being replaced by heartbreak, and kisses, and Albus. The true importance of the man he had thought was just a hook up in a bar one night weighed so heavy on Gabe that it brought him his knees. Yet the images didn’t stop there, and as they continued to fly past his eyes, he could feel a pressure building inside his head. Gabe reached up, forgetting about the cup of hot coffee, it fell out of his hands and rolled away, the contents spilling everywhere as the pressure continued to build, and with it his heart started to ache. Gabe let out a pained whimper as his heart felt like it was going to rip from his chest. For a moment he feared he was going to die, and soon he fell over, his eyes rolling up as his head hit the floor. His body going rigid as the movie inside his head continued to play.
He wasn’t sure how long the sensation had lasted, but when he came to he was still lying on his kitchen floor. His head felt heavy and his chest felt tight but everything else seemed just as it had been. Gabe sat up slowly, expecting the heaviness to cause a dizziness but instead, he just felt full. He felt a pang of anxiety which he figure was from what had just happened, he looked down to his now empty hands, and they were shaking, but he felt dazed and relieved and breathless all at once. He rubbed his palms together, half convincing himself that the flowers were still there before he heard the buzz of his phone.
He climbed to his feet on shaky legs and found it on the counter before reaching and checking it. A number of different messages showed up the most recent being a missed call from Harry, Gabe stared at the name, feeling a wave of some unnamed feeling wash over his chest before he opened his phone and listened to the ring on the end of the line.

An hour or so later, Gabe was pacing the floor of his living room when his doorbell rang. He halted, his heart picking up speed as he made his way down his hall to the front door. When Harry had answered the phone earlier, Gabe had found himself expecting her to sound different or be different in some way, but she had sounded just like Harry. The request for her to come over had slipped out of his mouth before he could stop himself and as much as he had believed he had kept his voice steady he couldn’t help but be aware of how unsteady he had felt.
Even as he opened the door, he could still feel an underlying tremor to the way he held himself. Harry stood in the doorway and Gabe found himself staring at her, feeling in his heart like he was greeting an old friend, even though he knew that Harry had every right to have her reservations about him, he reminded himself that she could have easily ignored him the day he had encountered her outside the Ministry of Magic building. Yet she hadn’t and in the months when he hadn’t realised he had needed her, she had become his confidant. . .
