The next time Camden entered into a bet, he'd make sure to know what he was wagering. His colleague Kiddron, whom he wasn't all that close to, had nagged him so badly that Camden had agreed to a game of exploding snap just to shut him up. In retrospect, he should have asked about the punishment before agreeing to play. Camden had lost spectacularly. At the time, he hadn't given it much thought; the loss meant Kiddron would let him get back to the big pile of paperwork that needed to be completed before the end of the week, and as no punishment was mentioned, it had escaped Camden's mind.
Until now.
Camden read the note again, brows furrowing. Apparently, it was time to collect. The note said to meet Kiddron in the park after work. Camden glanced at the clock on the wall — in half an hour. What could Kiddron possibly want with him in the park? Was he going to make him run laps? Whatever it was, he would soon find out.
He tossed the note in the bin and spent the next thirty minutes working on his reports, fully engrossed in his work. When he was done for the day, he put the finished reports in a neat pile, attaching a post-it note to the top one with a reminder to hand them in the next day. The incomplete reports were put in a second pile, just as neat as the first, strategically placed so that he could easily pick up where he left off the next morning. Paperwork was the worst part of being an auror. Camden preferred being out in the field, participating in raids and actively stopping criminals. But he recognized the importance of thorough documentation and made sure to hand in the reports on time, unless delayed by a case. Some weeks were so hectic that he simply didn't have time to sit down and write. That's how he ended up with piles like these. Thankfully, his boss was understanding.
Usually when Camden was behind on paperwork, he stayed at least another hour, but he couldn't do that today. Kiddron was waiting. Camden collected his things and left the office, stopping at the nearest apparition point from which he would apparate to the park. This would likely not end well for him, but Camden was curious despite himself.
Kiddron was already there when he arrived. Camden nodded at him in greeting and said, "Why are we meeting in the park?" Hopefully, Kiddron wouldn't ask him to run laps in his underwear or something. He may be a Yorkshire lad, but he wasn't immune to the cold.
