In 2031, magic was accidentally revealed to the world when an orphan girl was paraded in front of the media for magic that she could do. She hadn’t known at the time that she was magical, or about the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy set into place back in 1692.
Part of the Muggle world was in an outrage that they have been deceived for so long, for never having been made aware that witches and wizards lived among them, next door to them. Other Muggles were delighted to learn about magic and began seeking it out so that they could learn more.
This brought about a group that became known as the Witch Hunters. They hated magic in all forms, for some reason or another, and decided to track down any witch or wizard they could find and eradicate them. Two other groups sprouted from this, Hydra (an organization set on the advancement and safety of witches and wizards) and Pyralis (a group working against Hydra, in the hopes of preventing the unfair murders of Muggles and magical folk alike at Hydra's hands).

In 2034 (I think this was the year; any senior member can correct me if I am wrong though), the being known as The Sovereign was destroyed. This, subsequently, let to the dissolution of Hydra, which led to the eventual disbanding of Pyralis. There was no need for them to protect the world from Hydra if it no longer existed, right?
It took a while for things to return to normal after this though. After his capture and torture, Ronald Weasley lost his mind, in a matter of speaking, and started drinking heavily. He quit his job with the Ministry and pushed everyone away that he had once held close. He couldn't help it though. He was still tormented by the torture inflicted upon him and he couldn't let it go. He did eventually though, and began to return to his former self, as did other people who had been hurt by Hydra and The Sovereign.

In 2036, Sophie Miller decided to step down as Minister for Magic. Her Senior Undersecretary at the time, Hermione Weasley, had taken over the job. This would lead to a political campaign for the next Senior undersecretary. The kicker to this was that the candidates were all vampires. Crazy, right?
That specific group of magical creatures had been volleying for more equal rights in the magical world for some time, and this was the way for them to get it. The winner of that campaign was @vina, and she took on her position in the autumn of 2036. And then things began to get crazy.
Due to being placed under a very powerful curse, by way of a worn pendant, Hermione began to act a little crazy. And by a little crazy, we mean she went off the deep end. She began to pass insane decrees that limited so many things, which caused unrest and uncertainty in all of Britain. More information on the decrees can be found here.

Hermione Granger (after a divorce from her once husband Ronald Weasley) was removed from office and was replaced by a Tribunal of Magic. The Wizengamot and International Confederation of Wizards felt that no one person should hold such power, in light of what happened with Hermione. The offices of Senior and Junior Undersecretary were also dissolved and merged into the Tribunal.
Since she had worked with the International Confederation of Wizards and Wizengamot by overturning Hermione's decrees, @vina was offered one of the chancellor positions on the Tribunal. The other two spots went to long-time Ministry officials for the time being, though there is talk of polls to be held for the magical community to vote in two new chancellors, as they had done when they elected Lavinia to be the Senior Undersecretary.
The Ministry has also attempted to track down the Muggles that had their memories obliviated of magic. It was hard to do because some records were destroyed before the Ministry was able to be taken back from Hermione and those who blindly followed her. Some were lucky enough to regain their taken memories, while others were not.
Harry Potter was named the new head of the Magical Law Enforcement, since Ronald Weasley stepped down following his divorce from the ex-Minister. He hopes to help the Ministry become great again, and to regain the trust of the people. Hermione now resides in St Mungo's, under careful observation so that they may determine whether the curse she had been under will have any permanent effects. No one knows where Ronald Weasley is. He has disappeared.
All these changes have also brought about two new groups that are not behind the re-integration. One wishes to keep them separate. The other wishes to eradicate the other entirely. Find out more about them here.

The British Ministry was able to bring more harmony to both the magical and Muggle worlds. The terror groups were either captured or disbanded and the goal now is to bring peace and co-inhabitance back to the United Kingdom, and the world.
The International Confederation of Wizards created what they called the Concordia Festival. It is to be held triennially in a different location each time, with the inaugural festival is to be held in London, and its purpose is to bring all people, magical and Muggles, together to share their culture with the other.
Let this be known as the Silver Age for the Magical Community. The question now is, how long will it last?
