[attr="class","subhead1"]rule one
[attr="class","subhead2"]the site's rating + character portrayal
[attr="class","subtext"]
No content over the rating of PG-13 is allowed anywhere on the forum. Mild language and content is allowed, but we will ask that you please make a note of it in either the title or the top post of the thread. You are even allowed to use the Mature label offered in the forums. If staff comes across a thread that is not labeled properly, we will ask you to edit the thread accordingly with a rating or it will be locked or removed. If your thread contains content about abuse, suicide, etc., you must also mark the subject with "sensitive + [rating]." You must be at least 13 years old to join the forum, and no chatbox content should exceed a PG rating.
Respect in character portrayal is considered highly important. We understand members cannot know personally all, or perhaps a lot of what a character has experienced. However we do emphasize respect in portrayals of ethnic or racial groups, not to mention disabilities. Research is key, and we ask you to respect others by ensuring you do some when it is needed. Respect your fellow members and respect the backgrounds, culture and conditions you portray.

[attr="class","subhead2"]activity checks
[attr="class","subtext"]
Activity checks (AC) are held every season (every 3 months). This is so that we can keep both the site and its members active with all of their characters. Exemptions are given, but contact with the staff must be made, even if it is via messenger. An additional member group has been created to go with this, so that accounts are not deleted right away. More information on this as well as the AC rules can be found when the AC thread is posted.
Activity Checks have been canceled indefinitely.

[attr="class","subtext"]
No member may have more than fifteen abilities in total, between all characters, and no character may have more than three abilities. This is non-negotiable.
A character can have up to three (3) abilities. Staff approval is required for all abilities, and the staff reserves the right to ask further questions before approving any ability. Canon characters receive their canon abilities for free but are still subject to other abilities rules.
Once a member has joined, they're entitled to one (1) free ability. It does not have to be the first character created, but it can only be used once. If a character is created with multiple abilities, one can be free while the others must still be paid for.

Changing the canon of Harry Potter is strictly prohibited without the approval of both staff and any players whose characters would be effected by your changes. You are welcome to bring canon change ideas to staff, but you will be required to provide substantial arguments in defense of any changes to canon. In the event that staff approves your request, a denial from a player who plays a potentially effected character will automatically result in rejection of your idea.

Using ideas from characters off other shows or fandoms for inspiration isn't encouraged. This is a Harry Potter RPG, and while we do realize sometimes inspiration can come from other genres, etc. we encourage you to change names, ideas, and even plots so that it isn't a copyright of the character. If you have further questions about this feel free to contact any of the staff before you create the character.
A direct copy of a character off another series, fandom, movie, etc. isn't allowed. Likewise you cannot role-play real people.
